Shell Falls Interpretive Center

Shell Falls Interpretive Center
I worked here as a Visitor Information Aid for the Forest Service in 1998. Shell Falls Interpretive Center is located on US Highway 14, at the top of Shell Canyon 10 miles west of Burgess Junction. The site consists of a self guided trail, exhibits, maps, information, and a small book store.

Copman's Tomb
Copman's tomb is named after one of the early pioneers of the area, Wolfgang R. Copman. He asked that his ashes be scattered over this flat-topped mountain when he died.

Chugwater Formation
The deep red sandstones of the Chugwater Formation become visible as US-14 flattens out between Shell Canyon and the town of Greybull to the west. This area is also known for its dinosaur fossil beds.
