Santa Cruz, California
May 6, 2005 The Santa Cruz Boardwalk sits on a mile-long stretch of beach between Monterey and San Francisco. Admission is free and the boardwalk is open daily during the summer months and weekends during the off-season. The wharf offers seaside dining and shopping, including handmade arts & crafts, beach apparel, outdoor fresh fish markets, whale watching and fishing trips, as well as kayaking. Steamer Lane
The interior of the lighthouse at the point doubles as a small surfing museum open seasonally.
Named for the channel used by the old steamships in earlier times, Steamer Lane is now a well-known surfing spot due to its large waves. |
