J. Paul Getty Museum Los Angeles, California April 23, 2004 The Getty Center features an extensive art collection, dramatic architecture, tranquil gardens, and great views of the city. Continuously running trams provide convenient access to the museum pavilions from the arrival center. Built on a hilltop around an open central courtyard and fountain, the complex houses five two-story pavilions and a central gardens, as well as research and administrative facilities. Enclosed within the pavilion walls are housed the changing exhibitions as well as extensive permanent collections of pre-20th-century European paintings, drawings, illuminated manuscripts, sculpture, and decorative arts, and 19th- and 20th-century American and European photographs.
