Continuously running trams provide convenient access to the museum pavilions from the arrival center.


Built on a hilltop around an open central courtyard and fountain, the complex houses five two-story pavilions and a central gardens, as well as research and administrative facilities.


Enclosed within the pavilion walls are housed the changing exhibitions as well as extensive permanent collections of pre-20th-century European paintings, drawings, illuminated manuscripts, sculpture, and decorative arts, and 19th- and 20th-century American and European photographs.
