Point Bonita Lighthouse
July 28, 2007A hike through the Marin headlands of northern California.
The New LighthouseThe new lighthouse was completed in 1877. The black lantern room and lens from the original tower were used.
The building is a one-story tower with three rooms. The central room was built with heavy walls to support the tower. The entire structure stands 33 feet high.
Marin HeadlandsThe Marin headlands begin just north of the Golden Gate Bridge but feel like they're a world apart from the bustling city of San Francisco.
